Wow oh wow!!! Am I SO excited to finally share this with you!!! 🎉✨ New year, new KTP. Introducing the refreshed brand of Kyla Taylor Photography 📸💫💛 It’s been a long time since my brand truly felt like me and the work I create. You know how it goes, one thing gets put on the back burner and suddenly… years pass 😅 As a former graphic design girly, I cringed a little every time I sent someone to my website or signed an email with my old logo (dramatic? yes. accurate? also yes 🙋‍♀️). One of my biggest goals this year was to realign my brand with what KTP has grown into – intentional, inviting, and joyful. And naturally, I waited until the very last day of the year to launch it 😂 BUT IT’S HERE!!!! Enter my sister, the incredibly talented @izzygstudio , who somehow knew exactly what I needed. She designed my new favorite logo EVER, created a color palette that perfectly complements my editing, and brought everything together in a way that feels so aligned and intentional. Shameless plug because she deserves it—she’s amazing at what she does and just graduated with her graphic design degree from Mizzou. Hire her. The dreamiest photos can be made with the wildest of toddlers, I promise!!! Callahan ran around, explored & made silly faces in typical 2-year-old fashion. And guess what? That’s exactly what made the session so magical. ✨ With littles, it’s never about perfect poses (they can be hard to come by sometimes!) It’s about meeting them where they’re at, chasing the giggles, and catching those real, joy-filled moments along the way. As your photog, I don’t complete fight the chaos! It’s about embracing it and capturing your family in exactly the season you’re in! Also huge shoutout to @shelby_brianne, the most cool & collected soon-to-be mom of two around! Take it from a mom who now has a 2 year old & baby - capturing in-home newborn photos with a toddler can be a little unpredictable! It will 1000% look different than taking newborn photos with your first baby! My best tips to you: 1️⃣ Embrace the Chaos - Not every shot will be picture-perfect, and that’s okay! They will absolutely capture YOUR fam the way you are in this season! That is what I aim my newborn sessions to be! And trust me, it will create the photos that give you the best memories!!! 2️⃣ Trust you photog!!! - I can’t tell you how many times I leave a session where parents are worried they don’t get one “good” photo (and are surprised when they get back a full gallery of them!) We know how to get the in between moments - relax, soak in the time with you little kids & know that your photog is directing you in the best way!

One year ago today we were eating pizza on the steps of the capitol 🍕 and celebrating the marriage of the very best & goofiest couple! Happy anni Syd & Carson!!!

Our Case Monkey is TWO!!!! The time has gone by incredibly fast. We are in awe of the kid God is shaping Case to be. He is happy, silly, caring & creative. He loves getting to the bottom of how things work and is so much fun to be around! He has fallen right into the big brother role this year and is all about giving Logan constant hugs & kisses. He’s talking more and more and is really starting to tell us exactly what he is thinking! Our house is always messy, busy & loud thanks to Case! We wouldn’t trade this time for anything. We thank God that we get to be his parents!!! “He’s just the best” is a phrase we say to each other daily! I wanted to capture some of Case’s favorite things to remember this season! Legos, markers, trucks, dinosaurs & books are the things we live by in this household!

Senior photo tip of the day: 👏Bring 👏The 👏Props 👏 Truly I think props get SUCH a bad rep with senior photos. And I get it!! You think props and think super cheesy, over posed & awkward photos 🫣 But take it from Tillie! Just three props brought so much personality & variety to 15 minute field photos. In her bag of tricks: 💐 Flowers!!! I think every kind of session could benefit from some fresh blooms 🪑A vintage chair! Obsessed with this & it added so much variety to the poses we could do! 🎉 Confetti!!! Always a hit. Just make sure to get biodegradable versions if you want to pop it outside! One thing I do with all my wedding couples is a fun “get to know you (& your relationship)” survey! My wedding couples are so much more than just a day to me and this is my absolute favorite way to reset and make sure I’m intentional about capturing THEIR relationship on their day! I get to know a lot about them through the process, but I always find myself going back to their words about each other! One of my favorite questions is “What are 3 words you would use to describe your future spouse?” Here is what Taylor & Chase had to say about each other ⬇️ “Chase is funny, smart & thoughtful. We are always joking and laughing together and he never fails to crack jokes! He is also getting his PHD and loves learning, he is always teaching me about new things he has learned! I think one of the most stressful parts of getting ready for family photos is coordinating outfits! Before you go unloading your whole family’s dressers and drawers, you can simplify this process with a solid plan – pick a palette. Start by selecting about three neutral and nearly neutral colors and base most outfits using those colors. From there, you can add one or two accent colors! Give me all the feel good, giggly, lovey dovey photos!!! Bellin & Jordan are just each other’s perfect match and I could not be more excited for their growing family (so soon!!!) We chose to start their announcement photos at Acola coffee because Bellin had mom & dad mugs she wanted to use for the announcement! From there we headed to some of my favorite downtown spots together. It was truly the happiest shoot!

The dreamiest surprise engagement from February!!! If anyone remembers the last minute addition to my giveaway (AKA an additional February mini) just know that the mastermind @brendan_roast was behind it! He reached out to me in January to see if we could make Maddie a “fake” winner of a mini session so that he could propose... with a photographer... without her having a clue! Maddie actually set the date and time and everything! In fact, she told me she wanted “Photos of her and her dogs, and then a few with her boyfriend” – HA! The best part of surprising her was that after the initial shock (and easy yes!), she put the pieces together and said, “Wait... so I’m not a winner???” Brendan knows her well and told me beforehand that those exact words would come out of her mouth after the proposal 💍 Here’s to the future Rosts! Another fun fact: These two are responsible for us getting a second pup – they gave us the two dog fever!!!
